Copilot costs about half as much as a separate AI seat.

If you already run Microsoft 365, you only pay the difference to add Copilot. Moving to the matching “with Copilot” plan is the cheapest way to get the full product.

Usage matters too

Some tools use their allowance faster than others.

AI is measured in tokens, small chunks of text. Heavier tools think longer and use more of them, so the cheapest seat is not always the cheapest tool. Here is roughly how quickly each one uses its allowance in everyday business work.

Claude Moderate
Uses the most tokens of the five for similar work. Plan for heavy users to run out.
ChatGPT Moderate
Generous usage for the price.
Gemini Low
Generous usage for the price.
Copilot Low
Includes OpenAI and Claude models, but with limited functionality. Quicker and deeper thinking modes are available without running out. Heavier jobs use Copilot Credits, billed on top.
Grok Very low
Very low token use. Most people will not reach the limit.

Prices are per user per month, ex GST, on a 12-month commitment, checked October 2026. Month to month costs about 20% more. ChatGPT prices are OpenAI’s own Australian-site prices. *Gemini Enterprise and Grok bill in US dollars; Australian dollar figures are converted at about A$1.55 per US$1 and will move with the exchange rate.
